about rev. dr. duane t. kay

Rev. Kay became the senior pastor in October 2010. He is the sixth pastor in the church’s 110 -year history. He is a native of Spotsylvania, Virginia. He received his B.A. degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Master’s of Divinity degree from Virginia Union University.  In addition, Rev. Kay received his Doctor of Ministry degree at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C.

Continuing in FBCNB’s rich tradition of excellence in impacting lives within and outside of the church, Rev. Kay has:

  • Expanded Christian Education by increasing Bible studies from three to thirteen classes including small group opportunities for Men, Women, young adults and those seeking financial empowerment,
  • Engaged over 600 church members in service to the community at more thirty nonprofit organizations in the Metropolitan Washington area through his new Missions Blitz initiative,
  • Enhanced several of the existing ministries of the church, including the Deacon Ministry, by providing a comprehensive training program to enrich spiritual formation and deepen the church’s focus on congregational care and Worship.
  • Directed the stewardship campaign, acquisition and installation of state-of-the-art technology that will aid in the display and distribution of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in FBCNB’s sanctuary and beyond.
